Resolutions of the MDC Youth Assembly National Council of 30 March 2014

Harare, 31 March 2014

The MDC Youth Assembly National Council met at the party headquarters at Harvest House on Sunday the 30th of March 2014 to deliberate and proffer solutions to the crisis and challenges affecting the young people in Zimbabwe.

The Assembly re-affirmed its loyalty and support for the people’s leader, President Morgan Tsvangirai.

Recognising that the nation’s economy is in acute downfall and the current regime has no clue to rescue the situation, the Assembly fully and unequivocally endorsed President Tsvangirai’s 8-point plan to legitimacy as a credible and immediate arrangement to salvage the nation.

Realising that the ZANU PF illegitimate regime has failed to provide even a single job out of the 2.2 million jobs that they promised to the people, instead thousands have lost their jobs in the last eight months, the Assembly resolved that the current government must leave office immediately and pave way for free and fare elections.

The meeting resolved to continue focusing on the bigger national picture in the fight for real transformation as the country is faced with a serious cash crisis, corruption in all sectors of the economy, job losses and a fake empowerment programme.

The National Council recommended expulsion from the party of Promise Mkwananzi for various constitutional breaches, which include promoting factionalism, misappropriation of party funds, serious security breaches, misrepresentation of the Assembly’s resolutions and standing positions and putting the name of the party into disrepute, among others. The Council assigned his deputy, Netsai Samhembere, as the Acting Secretary General.

The National Council meeting expressed serious displeasure in the manner in which Solomon Madzore is discharging his duties as the Assembly leader and his non attendance of party programs and meetings; therefore it resolved that his matter be forwarded to the top leadership for further deliberation and action according to article 12 of the constitution.

Appreciating the genuine call to re-energise the base and to re-mobilise the youth constituency, the Youth Assembly National Council resolved that it will carryout revival forums and rallies countrywide.

Together to end, building a youth with a difference.
